The Work We Take On
Most of the houses we get called to were built somewhere between 1938 and 2004, with a lot of that stock going up in the 1960s and 70s - which means torsion springs, opener models, and track hardware from three or four different eras, sometimes on the same block. A door from a 1970s build doesn't fail the same way as one from a 2000s build, and the parts aren't interchangeable. We work on both, along with everything in between.
Winters here put real strain on garage door hardware - cold makes springs brittle and lubricant thick, and that's when a marginal spring finally lets go. We see more of that kind of failure through the cold months than any other time of year. One honest limit: if a door is old enough and rusted enough that the frame itself is failing, patching the opener or spring isn't worth your money - we'll tell you when replacement makes more sense than repair, even if that means a smaller job for us that day.
